If you've ever wondered how to cope with it all, you might have noticed that there are a lot of things stress can do to our body. We know that it does something, but we aren't sure what. What do the effects of this stress feel like? How much can stress get us before we start feeling better? What are the primary reasons why stress can be so harmful?

Our bodies need time and space to let out, relax, and recharge. It's important that we don't go through life thinking that just because we're in the middle of a job or a relationship or something else that can't be as stressful as an argument or someone cheating on you. Our brains aren't made to handle being stressed. That's not the reason why stress is bad for our health, it's just not healthy.

You'll notice our bodies changing and our minds changing when we're stressed. You'll notice that when you're stressed, everything seems to come crashing down around you. So, how do you combat it? What do you do to keep yourself calm in stressful situations? There are many different ways to manage stress: making a list, journaling, taking care of your mind, meditating and reading about psychology when you can, reading more books, etc. Here are some strategies to help get more control over your own health and find a way to reduce your level of anxiety:

Make A List Of Things To Be Happy About

Having a list of things to look forward to is one way of distracting yourself from things that are bothering you. When you write down positive thoughts that make you forget about all the things that may be going wrong in life, it's easier to deal with something. You can also write things down about things that bring a bit of light into your life. This will give you a sense of normalcy even when times are dark.

Make Sure You Check In With Friends And Family

There's nothing worse than having friends who can't stop talking about their problems and nothing seems to work, yet people are still there for you. Make sure you remember to check in on all those people around you. The best kind of people to talk to are those of us who are open about our problems. Maybe you need reminding of your family or what you love doing when you're not stressed. Just remember to tell them! They're there for you.

Take Care Of Yourself

If you want to avoid worrying about things that are bothering you, look after yourself. Eat right. Exercise right. Don't miss breakfast. Put on some nice perfume. Go out at night with friends. Do all these things and enjoy the company of people who lift up your spirits.

Change Your Environment

When you have to deal with stressful events, try things you'd rather be doing. Try hanging out with your dog instead of going for a walk with them. Go to the movies instead of watching old dramas. Get an exercise partner instead of trying to go alone. Get on a horse instead of driving. Plan a trip instead of going somewhere you're worried about. Work out instead of sitting in front of the TV. Think instead of scrolling social media. Get out of the house and engage in conversation with people. Change your environment!

Meditate

Meditation is something that I did not pay attention to until last year when I started practicing it. Not only did I find it relaxing, but it helped me think clearer and be able to see things in a different perspective. I had been seeing my stresses as a problem, which was why they went away. Instead, I tried meditation and saw it as a solution. Meditation made me feel calmer. That helped my brain understand that other people were experiencing the same thing as what I was feeling. Since then, I always meditate whenever I'm struggling. Sometimes it helps me relax, sometimes it makes me think better. In general, meditation has shown to be very helpful!

Have Some Good Times

We should never forget to be grateful. The best form of escapism is to be happy. Give gratitude towards others. Remember you're loved and appreciated! Spend time alone. Look outwards for good moments. Keep yourself busy and happy instead of focusing on things you're unhappy with. Have some fun with friends. Do things you wouldn’t usually dare. Celebrate small victories! These are just some ideas that helped me get through this stressful time.

Try Being Peaceful

I can't lie. Feeling angry is really hard. But, when you practice being kind to yourself, your mood changes and getting angry gets much, much less. Also, you're much happier once you stop treating yourself badly. Practice positive thinking. Take deep breaths. Breathe deeply. Be aware of your surroundings. When you feel anxious, focus on the person next to you. If you're having a bad day, remember there's a bright side. If you're feeling down, remember that there's always the possibility of finding happiness again. There is, at least, hope.
